Hello! I am assistant professor at Centre for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Previously I was a faculty at the Department of Political Science, Presidency University, Kolkata (2012-2015), and also taught Political Science at St. Peter’s College, Shillong (2004-2005).

Currently I am the editor of Journal of North East India Studies, and former executive editor of Asian Ethnicity published by Routledge (Taylor & Francis, UK), from January 2015 to January 2021.

My research interests fall broadly in the fields of governance, public institutions, ethnicity and ethnic relations, borderland studies, India’s Look East Policy, North East India Studies.

I appear in media outlets such as India Today, CNN News18, Mirror Now, CNBC TV18, News9, Northeast Live, Mojo Story, etc. to discuss about issues in Northeast India, and write opinions in the Indian Express and The Statesman.
